Engage targets up to 1200 meters using a rifle with sniper/marksman abilities. The PSL rifle uses iron sights or the optional detachable 4×24mm optical sight. It also has a detachable PSL rifle magazine that holds 10 rimmed cartridges. It fires the ComBloc standard large rifle round of 7.62mm x 54mm.

The receiver of the PSL rifle moreover incorporates a bolt hold open mechanism. This holds the bolt to the rear when the last shot is fired. It alerts the user and facilitates magazine changes and charging of the rifle. The PSL rifle has semi-auto action which absorbs a great deal of the recoil energy.
