Musketeer swords

Whether we like it or not, the word musketeer will always remind us of The Three Musketeers. This is the French novel by Alexander Dumas. It is about the adventures of a young man named d’Artagnan who left home to become a guard of the musketeers. He was not one of the musketeers; those were his inseparable friends who lived by the motto “all for one, one for all”. There had been many adaptations of the novel including a musical.

Musketeers were called such because they originally carried a musket. They were also masters of sword fighting. That is why modern day Musketeer costumes are usually presented in cotton velvet tabards fully lined with matching satin. The front, back and sides are usually embroidered with a silver cross and fleur-delis. The attire is completed by trusty Musketeer swords.
