Though he started as a child actor in Hollywood, Kurt Russell rose to fame only in his latter years. It was in the late ’70s when he was nominated for an Emmy Award for the Outstanding Lead actor in Limited Series or a special for the made-for-television film, “Elvis”. I first got into model building in grade school. We had a project in the 6th grade about space and my dad decided to get me a space shuttle model kit. After that, I got hooked. I now have model kits of monsters, cars, planes and boats. I especially love my polar lights model kits of King Kong and Godzilla.

I’m a big monster fan. I used to watch the monster marathon on TV. I love the King Kong series (King Kong vs various monsters). Good thing polar lights model kits includes the monster line. I’m now working on Rodan. After that, I think my monster collection will be complete. I hope my son will learn to enjoy making models like I do.

I’m a history buff. I took anthropology in college mainly because I wanted to study the culture of people. It fascinates me why one group behaved different from others given the same time in history. One of the most interesting time of American culture that I love, is the western. Growing up watching Bonanza on television made me a fan of that era. It comes as no surprise then that I collect western replicas and memorabilia.

As a cowboy fanatic, I have in my possession a couple of cowboy hats and a pair of boots. I even remember as a fourth grader I dressed up as a cowboy during the United Nations Day pageant in school and paraded with so much pride and joy. Nowadays, I look for an occasion to wear my western replicas.

When I was in school I loved going on class field trips. Most of the time our field trips were educational trips to the museums. I guess like most kids, I found them boring sometimes. But as I got older, I began to appreciate art and science more, I looked forward to museum trips. As an adult I enjoy national history and science museums just as much as art museums. I would stare at one mammal skull after another and imagine how they actually looked like.

I think it was the movie “Jurassic Park” that changed everything for me. The way they portrayed how modern man would survive against prehistoric dinosaurs was awesome. This is why I have not looked at a prehistoric or an extinct mammal skull the same way after the movie. Now that I have a son, I look forward to the day when I can bring him to museum as well. I’m going to make sure that he watches “Jurassic Park” first before going to the museum so he does not get bored
