AMT refers to Aluminium Model Toys, a manufacturer of various plastic promotional and kit models. Most of the company’s vehicle products were American cars and trucks in 1:25 scale. In the 1970s, hot rods, customs, and movie and TV vehicles were also produced. The company started off producing promotional models that were being given away in the showroom after a test drive. Promotional models were exquisitely detailed and proportioned, and AMT became the main supplier of the pre-assembled model to American car companies.
Kit development came later. In typical AMT model kits, parts were molded into “trees” and could be easily separated and then assembled. Product lines of stock model cars were soon augmented with parts to complete custom cars and hot rod variants from stock production vehicles. This configuration was named the ‘3 in 1′ kit where the modeler could build a car in ’stock’, ‘custom’, or ‘hot rod’ form by selecting different parts offered in the box. Some of AMT’s first successful kits were of 1932 and other early Fords, and these were reissued several times over the years.

MPC stands for Model Products Corporation. It is a subsidiary of General Mills and it manufactures promotional model cars, rockets, trains including the Lionel brand trains. Lionel trains, produced from 1901 to 1969, drew admiration from model railroaders around the world for the solidity of their construction and the authenticity of their detail. Model cars and trains were originally sold as playthings. Now, they are being built from kits and older versions are being collected.
The model car kit craze started with wooden model cars. Major manufacturers such as AMT, Revell, Monogram and Tamiya have created models in plastic, die cast metal and resin. The MPC model kit has been manufacturing little vehicles with incredible levels of detail even in internal parts that are not even seen when the model is in display. One of its latest products is the Zinger Super Volks released in March 2010. It features many chrome details and yet are easy to assemble and looks incredible when finished.

Our country was built on the backs and the vision of our forefathers as well as by the barrel of a gun. This gun is the flintlock rifle. It was wildly use during colonial America. This type of rifle allowed shooters to fire their guns cheaply and with great frequency. They are also the best looking guns for me.
The flintlock rifle was a hi-tech weapon during its time. In fact, it was the second most hi tech device of that time next only to the pendulum clock. It conquered the Native Americans with ease. The technology of the flintlock lasted about 300 years until it was replaced by the percussion-cap lock. Without the flintlock our forefathers may not have succeeded in colonizing America.

Anthropologists get really excited when they find a piece of bone fragment or eggshell of an animal that lived centuries past. More so when they dig up an entire skeleton. These are tools by which they can learn more about extinct cultures. Anthropological research contributes to the understanding of humankind. Hopefully their studies can help solve present human problems.
Wildlife skulls are great learning instruments. From them there can be a lot of information that can be gathered. It will be a great help to have them displayed in libraries and museums. But real wildlife skulls are hard to come by. Schools and organizations resort to replica wildlife skulls.

The California gold rush brought about the great western expansion of our nation. To me it is the golden age of America. It is the time of the cowboy and the six-shooter. It is the time of conquest and bad ass people. That’s why I love collecting western replicas.
Ever since I can remember I always wanted to be a cowboy. I would play cowboy and Indians (Native Americans) with my brother and cousins. During my junior high/ high school days my favorite show was Bonanza. I wanted to be part of the Cartwright Boys. My western replicas include a cowboy hat and a six-shooter complete with the gun belt.

A lady who used to work for an advertising agency lost her job. She is now home based and is now finding a new outlet to express her creativity. She began designing her own jewelry. She just discovered that she can design accessories and maybe someday sell them. All she has at home are her tools, beads, jewelry stones and crafting tables. She finds her new found job more fulfilling than her previously stressful job.
Crafting tables are practical for people who are serious when it comes to crafts. They can be bought in furniture stores and craft stores. There are different styles and shapes. The most common are wooden craft tables that can be placed anywhere in your home. Crafting tables are treasures which you can keep for a long time. You can even pass them on to your kids.

To own a Waterford crystal is to own one of the finest crystals in the world. For the last two centuries, it had dedicated itself to producing the world’s best crafted products. Their product line includes personalized pieces meant to be given as gifts to a special someone. An example is a 5″ small clock made from solid crystal. It comes from the contemporary Metra Collection.
Another is this Waterford crystal Irish lace vase. The bottom has a star cut pattern to avoid scratching surfaces. There are vertical cuts that lead into a band of diamond cuts, topped with a series of leaf cuts. It is a nice blend of traditional and contemporary styles. At 6 inch tall, it is perfect for everyday flowers.

The chainmail coif was just part of a whole range of medieval protective gear. There were also fantasy swords, helmets and shields. Not just anybody could wear these special wear. An untrained male trainee would be made to wear a simple linen shirt and wool pants. Once knighted, he became someone of importance.
A knight had to dress like one. It was a way of distinguishing him from the rest of society. Knights were members of the ruling class. He had to live up to that standard. So, it was not just the outside look that changed, it was his whole being and way of life.
