Do you remember back to when you were five years old and you used to play in the land of imagination all day? In my childhood fantasy land I was a military helicopter pilot and I would spend hours upon hours racing my RC helicopters through the air while making chopper noises with my mouth.
The funny thing is that when I turned 18 I joined the military to become an Air Force pilot. After years a rigorous training and commitment, I am now proud to say that my dream did come true. I fly Apache helicopters for the military almost daily and I couldn’t be happier.

We never seem to outgrow war-time movies. Even in this age of nuclear weapons and advanced technology, we still enjoy watching the sword and spear kind of battles. Time stands still as the warriors engage with their enemies. There is a thrill watching the rugged hero lead his army to victory despite close defeat.
In these kind of movies, each camp brings a flag to symbolize the group or tribe or country they are fighting for. Aside from the flag, battle shields also bear this insignia. It gives the warriors a sense of pride and patriotism. Having this sign on their battle shields also symbolizes defense for their own people.

Collecting is a hobby that interests a lot of people. Some collect paintings, others collect model cars. There are those who collect plates for its good looks and value. Collector plates have been in existence for over a century. The first plates were manufactured in China and displayed in homes all over Europe and America.
Manufacturers were encouraged to produce a vast number of limited edition plates. Subjects covered varied from animals to famous people; cartoon characters and historical events. Some were painted by famous artists. Collections grew and collectors tended to focus on specific subjects. It was not unusual for a collector to concentrate exclusively on Norman Rockwell plates, for example.

The fun with scale models is in getting them as kits and assembling them yourself. The hobby has gained ground. Children can get hooked, starting with simple car models; they do not really outgrow the hobby. As adults they continue to search for hard to find kits and assemble them in their free time. Of course, they love to display their collection in their homes.
The most popular subjects of plastic model kits are vehicles such as aircraft, ships, automobiles, and armored vehicles such as tanks. Hobbyists know that as soon as they get the pieces out of the box, these should be washed in mild detergent before starting assembly. This will remove traces of mold release wax. They also know that they should practice safety precautions. A safety mask should be worn when sanding and painting. They also need to work in a place with sufficient ventilation to avoid inhaling harmful fumes.

In the mid 1800s, Kings and Generals of the Gurkha possessed knives to reflect their rank, status and authority. People from very high ranks owned quality Kukris knives decorated with gold, precious stones, ivory and diamonds to show who is in command. Silver was discovered to be the best material in making Kukris.
These knives were also worn as part of a bridegroom’s ceremonial dress in Nepalese marriage custom. The Kukri is tucked in the man’s sash and kept throughout the ceremony. This is done with the belief that the Kukri would safe guard him and protect his new family from sins, evils, and bad spirits.

Because dinosaurs have stopped roaming the earth, we don’t see a lot of dinosaur fossils around. We have to settle for dinosaur fossil reproductions. Fossil replicas are the only way we can have an idea about the skeleton of extinct mammals. Not everyone have the desire or mean to go to faraway museums where real fossils are on display. Replicas are good enough for educational purposes.
By having replicas, more people are able to view these animal parts. They also help protect the real fossils. Due to age, these have turned very fragile; they will be prone to damage when transported. They are better off kept in secure storage. The people responsible for making these replicas make it a point to be true to the real thing.

Wedgewood is to pottery as Waterford is to crystals. Waterford crystal is a renowned trademark of crystal glassware which started to be produced in Ireland. As far as glassware go, Waterford produces many patterns including lines such as Adare, Alana, Colleen, Kincora, Lismore, Maeve, Tramore, and many others. But glassware is not their only product. Waterford’s chandeliers hang in well-known buildings. They also craft sporting trophies.
Fine crystal and glassware require the gentlest of care to maintain their brilliance and integrity for years. When washing crystal avoid using scouring pads and abrasive detergents. Vases and decanters should be cleaned by filling them half-full with moderately hot water, a small amount of mild detergent and some uncooked rice. Swirling the rice around for a few minutes will remove residue. Rinse well in moderately hot water and air dry upside down on a rack.

Beer isn’t any good if it is not cold. Beer drinkers can suggest many ways that beer can be kept cold. There is the fridge, a portable cooler or a bathtub full of ice (assuming that you are expecting a busload of guests). For the pool, somebody has invented the beer barge. It is for people who cannot be parted from their beer and the water.
But once you get the beer out of these containers, it starts to get hot. Unless to keep them in beer bottle koozies. These gadgets will keep your beer cold and your hands warm. They are made of stretchy material that will fit most beer bottle sizes. Keep a few of these on hand always. It makes beer drinking as enjoyable as ever.
