My son turned a year old recently. Last Christmas he received lots of gifts from his aunts and uncles. He received a couple of snowman dolls which we considered unusual. We found it a bit odd at first since we lived in a tropical country. The snowman dolls were the same size as his teddy bears and had different poses.

I later realized that the snowman dolls were actually a good idea. Building a snowman in the winter is often fun for kids. With the snowman dolls, I could easily show and tell my son what winter was like in other countries. The snowman doll is his reminder that someday when he will get to see snow he can build his own snowman too. Today his snowman dolls are placed right next to all his bears, rabbits, and elephant dolls.
