Thunderjets

A slot car is a powered miniature auto or other vehicle which is guided by a groove or slot in the track on which it runs. A pin or blade extends from the bottom of the car into the slot. Slot cars are usually models of actual automobiles, although some have bodies designed for miniature racing. Most enthusiasts use commercially-available slot cars, others motorize static models and others build from scratch creating their own mechanisms and bodies from basic parts and materials.

Thunderjets are slot cars modeled after the Air Force’s primary strike aircraft during the Korean War. It was responsible for destroying 60% of all ground targets in the war as well as eight Soviet-built MiG fighters. The F-84 Thunderjet was the first production fighter aircraft to utilize in-flight refueling and the first fighter capable of carrying a nuclear weapon. No wonder Thunderjet slot cars are still among the favorites of adult collectors, runners and racers today. They are easy to work on, chassis parts and track are still available, and they have more realistic racing speeds than the newer HO slotcars
