There are people who find medieval weapons very interesting. Swords and daggers, axes and crossbows all have a certain kind of appeal. People who are interested in history are students of medieval weapons. They are visual reminders of years gone by; a sample of the lifestyle of people they can only read about at the present time. Some will go to the extent of collecting medieval items.
The medieval sword is one of the most famous and commonly used weaponry of the middle Ages. Then, and now, they symbolize chivalry and bravery. There were many different kinds of swords but they could generally be classified into single-handed swords and two-handed swords. Single handed swords were light and were usually accompanied by a shield. These were commonly used against barbaric tribes who did not wear armor. Two-handed swords are heavy and needed both hands and strong men to carry them. These were effective in penetrating an enemy’s armor.
