Frosty the snowman came alive from the song of the same title. It is about a snowman that came to life by some magical hat some children found; he then had playful adventures before he “hurried on his way.” The characters in the TV special included Frosty, the snowman, Professor Hinkle, the inept magician and Karen, and her group of friends who created Frosty.

Frosty the Snowman characters also included Santa Claus, the ticket agent and Hocus Pocus, the professor’s pet rabbit which returns the magical hat on Frosty’s head after the professor took it away. The group went through a series of adventures that included games, sports and other jolly things. All through this, they had to contend with the possibility of Frosty melting away. The end credits show all the characters marching through the town square with Frosty in the lead, singing the “Frosty the Snowman” song. Among them is a reformed Professor Hinkle, who is proudly wearing his new top hat. At the end of the parade, Frosty gets back into Santa’s waiting sleigh and they return to the North Pole, with Frosty exclaiming, “I’ll be back on Christmas Day!”
