wooden canoe model
French and English seamen who were taken prisoners during the Napoleonic wars were confined for so long and some for many years. To relieve their boredom, they built ship models made from scraps of wood and bone. These in turn were taken as an art form and were sold to the public. The people then supplied them with ivory so that the models would be more decorative. The models had carved wooden hulls with rigging made from human hair, horsehair, silk, or whatever other fine material could be obtained.
Nowadays, we see a wide selection of model ship in the market. Model boats and yachts, ocean liners and tall ships, as well as wooden canoe model can be found. Traditional designs of early canoes are dugout, birch-bark canoe, voyageur canoe, wood-and-canvas canoe and war canoe. You’ll even see modern designs of canoe model like touring and tripping canoes, long distance touring canoe, prospector canoe and many more. A canoe is a small narrow boat, typically human-powered though it may also be powered by sails or small electric gas motors. They are usually pointed at both bow and stern and are normally open on top, but can be decked over.
